The Lamp Lighting Ceremony-2022
The Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the third batch (batch of 2022) of BSc Nursing students of the College of Nursing was held on 12th November 2022, at the St Mary’s Hospital Auditorium, H.D.Kote, Mysuru, Karnataka. On this blessed day, 32 young and vibrant first year Nursing Students committed their lives to the noble profession of ‘Nursing’ by lighting their lamps. The Chief Guest Rev. Sr. Lily Fernandes the Provincial Superior of Mysuru Province of UFS congregation addressed the students with her inspiring thought-provoking Speech. She inspired the students by narrating on the life of Florence Nightingale her journey in founding Nursing as a profession. She emphasized the importance of integrity and truth which are essential components in nursing care. She also encouraged the students to be courageous in all circumstances and to be committed in the calling that God had given to them by being light and hope to the suffering humanity.
Prof. Mr. Sandeep Kumar the Vice Principal, College of Nursing, (SMCON) spoke on the significance of Florence Nightingale Lamp and the Ceremony. He motivated the students to shine the light into the world through their dedication, commitment, compassion and care. He advised the students to carry their lamp and keep it burning continually by fueling it with Gods constant presence and guidance. Prof. Mr. Naveen Rasquinha the Principal College of Nursing guided the students for Oath taking and wished good luck to the budding Nurses.
Large number of parents and family members of the students, Doctors, staff, ANM students and neighboring religious community sisters witnessed this great grace filled event. the 2nd batch of SMCON participated in all the activities of the ceremony whole heartedly. Mrs. Dhanavthi the nursing tutor of SMCON gave a heartfelt vote of thanks to all gathered.
