On 03/09/22 the Onam and Teachers Day celebration was held at Saint Mary’s College of Nursing initiated by the management and students of the respective class. The teaching faculty of SMCON was well appreciated by the students and management; few games were conducted to them. The Onam celebration was very beautiful together with staff and students. Playing few games and having sweets together filled the college environment as a family atmosphere.
on 25/08/22 at Saint Mary’s Community Health Centre trust, H.D. Kote the 2nd year B. Sc Nursing students of SMCON conducted health education on non-Communicable dieses under the guidance of Sr, Smitha the assist professor (SMCON). Prof. Mr. Sandeep Kumar the Vice Principal Addressed the gathering on Non communicable disease and importance to focus on lifestyle, its positive and negative impact on health. around 200 people benefitted from this awareness program.
On 15th august 2022 Independence Day was celebrated in the SMCON campus for the first time in the history of St. Mary’s community health center trust, to mark the very especial occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by Rev. Sr. Mary Fernandes the superior of the Sanjeevini Convent and nursing superintendent and enlightened the students, staffs and teaching faculty gathered at the ceremony with her thought-provoking talk to give something valuable to the mother India and to be productive enough to upheld the degree of our mother land. Ms. Deeksha (2nd year B’Sc student) was the MC of the day. it was a beautiful occasion to uplift the patriotic spirit.
On 16/09/2022 at 5pm Lamp lighting and Oath taking ceremony of 19th batch Nursing Assistance was held at Saint Mary’s Community Health Center in the conference hall. Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha was the chief guest of the day. Sr. Smitha enlightened the gathering with the inspirational speech and wished all the best to nursing assistance of 18th and 19th batch students. 26 students entered into the Nursing profession by Lamp lighting and Oath taking Ceremony. Thirteen students from 18th batch received their convocation certificate. Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha motivated the students with his inspiring speech and graced the occasion with his valuable presence. The students entertained gathering with their cultural activities.
UFS Sisters of Mysore Province on 9 of October 2022 organized a decennial celebration of UFLA at St Joseph’s Central School, Hunsur. All the UFLA units had gathered for the celebration. Rev. Fr Prem Kumar, Montfort officiated the Eucharist and Rev Fr Edward Saldanha was the main speaker of the day. He encouraged the UFLA members to be active in God’s Service. Rev. Sr Lydia Serrao, UFLA Coordinator addressed the gathering and appreciated the UFLA members for their generosity towards the Mission of the Church. Rev. Sr Lily Fernandes, Provincial Superior congratulated the associates for their willingness to collaborate with us in the mission of the Church. In the afternoon all the Units presented the cultural programme. It was very wonderful.
28.7.2022: This day was a Red-Letter Day in the history of St Josephs’ Institutions. It was indeed an auspicious day for all at St Joseph Central School. The new building was blessed by Rev. Dr K A William, Bishop of Mysore, inaugurated by Very Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, Superior General, Sr Lily Fernandes, Provincial Superior unveiled the plaque, Mr H P Manjunath, MLA, Hunsur, Mr Revanna BEO, Hunsur, Rev. Sr Annie Madavath, Superior & Correspondent, Sr Bindu Elizabeth, Deputy Secretary, Sr Gracy Pinto, Principal were present on the occasion. The Superior General and the Provincial Superior felicitated the Architect Mr Lawrence Cutinha, the contractor, Mr Richard Rodrigues and supervisor Mr Padmanab. Rev. Sr Lily Fernandes, Provincial Superior appreciated the hard labour of the construction workers and Sr Philomena Noronha, Secretary of UFES thanked them for their dedicated and committed service at the completion of the building and felicitated them. Sisters from Mysore and other Provinces, priests from neighborhood, and teachers of St Joseph’s Institutions and people of the locality witnessed the programme.
On April 18, 2022 two of the Novices consecrated themselves to the Lord as they made their first profession at Maria Niketan, Bogadi. Rev. Fr Dominic Vas, OCD, Episcopal Vicar for Religious and CRI president of Mysore Unit Concelebrated the Eucharistic Celebration. That was followed by a felicitation programme and agape meal. It was indeed a great joy to the Province and Congregation as 2 Sisters became the Member of the Congregation. Parents of the Sisters and the Sisters were present for this celebration.
Maria Niketan English Med. School, Bogadi, Mysuru. The newly built structure was blessed by Rev. Fr Marie Raj Parish Priest of St Peter’s Church, Bogadi, on 13 November 2021 and inaugurated by Rev. Sr Lily Fernandes Provincial Superior and Sr Daisy D’Costa Provincial Councillor.
Christmas Get-together of United Christian Forum (UCF) at Teresian College Auditorium organized on 14 December 2021 by Mysore CRI along with the Diocese of Mysore. Rev. Sr Lily Fernandes Provincial Superior gave Christmas message on this occasion.
Ursuline Franciscan Congregation Mysore Province had its Province Chapter from 29 December 2021 to 2 January 2022 at Dyana Sadhana, Bogadi, Mysuru. Rev. Sr Lily Fernandes was re-elected as the Provincial Superior, Srs Annie M.A., Irene Leena Pais, Bindu Elizabeth and Sandra Pinto were elected as Provincial Councillors. Sr Annie M.A. was elected as the Asst Provincial. Superior General and Councillor General felicitated the new Provincial Team and wished them every success in the Province Administration. The Chapter Delegates and Novices congratulated them and prayed God’s bountiful blessings on them.
